Historical buildings

The impressive buildings were originally constructed in the period 1907-1911 to house the first “Christmas Seal Sanatorium” in Denmark. Postmaster Einar Holbøll started selling Christmas seals as early as 1904. From the time construction was complete and for the next 50 years, the buildings were used as a sanatorium for children suffering from tuberculosis. As such, the facility played an important role in the battle against this terrible illness.
