All new double rooms and hotel apartments are furnished with Danish design

Once the craftsmen have painted the last walls and lighting installations are in place in new hotel apartments and double rooms, Lourdes Schwartz and Karsten Rasmussen from Design Solutions move in. They are looking forward to turning their interior design drawings into reality during the summer.

“The sofas, tables and chairs are all designed by the world-famous furniture designer Finn Juhl. The rest of the interior is custom-designed in oak and walnut, and everything is produced in Denmark. The colors and materials reflect the hotel’s special location in the middle of nature,” says Lourdes Schwartz, interior designer at Design Solutions.

The selected colors and materials are in keeping with the hotel's special location in the middle of nature. In the interior design plans, it was also important that the new rooms are consistent with Hotel Koldingfjord's other design expressions. 

“We have a fantastically good and constructive collaboration with the hotel's director Peder Madsen and the other employees, who have great confidence in our suggestions and ideas,” says Karsten Rasmussen, director of Design Solutions and with more than 35 years of experience in hotel interior design.

Historic buildings get new life

The ten new hotel apartments and ten new double rooms are located in buildings from 1917 and 1933, which previously housed the infant ward of the Christmas Mark Sanatorium and the Danish Nursing History Museum. The rooms are just a short walk from Hotel Koldingfjord's main building.

The hotel apartments have separate bedrooms, a living room, a mini-kitchen and a view and terrace towards the fjord. Here it is obvious that guests stay for several days to have a quiet holiday or immerse themselves in a project.

Guests must be at least 16 years old. 

All new rooms and hotel apartments will function as an adult section, where guests must be at least 16 years old to stay overnight.

“The Fjordglimt building will also have a fitness center in the basement, and on the first floor there are three rooms that have a large common room with soft furniture and a large table that seats ten people,” says Lourdes Schwartz, interior designer.

The small details of the interior design have also been thought of. The bedspread is changed according to the season, so it matches the expression of nature, whether it is summer or winter. 

By August 2026, the rooms will be ready for the first guests.
 

• When the renovation is complete, ten new rooms and ten hotel apartments will be added to Hotel Koldingfjord.

• 18 of the new rooms/apartments have a view of the water.

• 15 rooms have private terraces.

• The bedrooms face the forest to the north.
