Roasted almonds
CRUNCHY CHRISTMAS Elves FOR CHILDREN AND OLDER PEOPLE
It's not that difficult to roast almonds for Christmas cheer at home in the kitchen.
They taste better than those from the supermarket, and it only takes a little over an hour of effort to make crispy and crunchy Christmas candy for the whole family.
If you take a little care with the hot sugar mass, the children can easily join in the kitchen.
There are instructions and a recipe for roasted almonds from Hotel Koldingfjord's pastry chef right here.
Ingredients
1 dl water
175 g sugar
225 g almonds
Course of action
Boil water and sugar for about two minutes. Then reduce heat to low. Add the almonds and continue to cook over low heat.
Stir well until the mixture becomes grayish and thickens.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir well. The sugar will now crystallize and have a consistency like sand.
Return the pan to the low heat. Heat, stirring, until the sugar begins to melt again.
Remove the pan and stir well.
Repeat the process until the almonds are the color you want.
Then pour the almonds out onto baking paper and let them cool.
It's nice to serve the almonds in small stalls.
