From Røjle Skov you can take a short detour south towards Røjle Tårup to the former Billeshave manor. Billeshave is named after the Bille family, who in the early 17th century were connected to no less than 1600 manors on Funen.
A short detour
The main building was originally a three-winged half-timbered structure. After the land was subdivided in 1926, Rasmine Jensine Rasmussen bought the main farm and 30 acres of land. She sold the main farm land and the farm, but kept the main building, which was converted into a manor house.
In 1941, she ceded it to the state, which first established a work camp for young girls, then a "home for stray girls" and from 1959 a home for older boys.
Today, Billeshave is a secondary school with a single-wing building with continuous dormers, ridged gables and a tiled roof.
