City Park West - Park in Kolding

Bypark Vest is a large district park in Kolding with the Play Park, a lake with sailing in the summer and an ice rink in frosty winters - as well as a quiet garden area with the bronze statue of Uffe hin Spage.

 

City Park West is a district park for a large area. The park has been redeveloped several times since its construction in the 1930s. A large part of City Park West was redeveloped into the Play Park in 1998. The low-lying meadow area was dug out to a lake, where boating is popular in the summer, and where there is a nice ice skating rink in frosty winters.

The old garden area, with the statue of Uffe hin Spage, forms a quiet corner with benches, trees and flowers. Uffe hin Spage is a bronze figure from 1932 designed by Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen. It was erected in the City Park in 1932 but was moved to the museum at Koldinghus during World War II. After 1948 it was placed again in the City Park.
