NiCOLAI for children - A unique experience universe for children in Kolding

In the middle of Kolding you will find NiCOLAI for children – a vibrant children's cultural center of 1.300 m² filled with active and creative experiences for the whole family. Here there are high ceilings, room for everyone and plenty of opportunities to create a cozy, inspiring and fun day together.

Start burning off gunpowder

The jungle invites movement and gross motor play. Climb the ropes, build a castle out of the large pillows, play “the earth is toxic”, do somersaults or dance to the music that fills the room with energy and joy. Here you have to use your body – and give it gas!

Create your own theater performance

In the Theatre Cave, your imagination can run wild. Transform your face with face paint, dress up in unique, specially designed costumes and engage in role-playing. Explore identity and emotions, and create your own stories, songs and dance choreographies – or perform a favorite number on the piano.

Unleash your creativity

On the first floor you will find the creative workshops where the inner artist can be unleashed.

Here are a wealth of materials – especially recycled treasures from Kolding's Treasury. With a glue gun, scissors, saw, hammer and brushes you can create everything from works of art and gifts to toys, robots and decorations – and remember that the process is the most important thing!

Take a break under the ceiling

Up under the roof you can retreat and find peace. Lie down in the “Cloud” and look down on life in the Kreaværkstedet, read a book or talk about the pictures on the specially designed wallpaper. Also visit the sensory room for the little ones, where there is grass on the walls, a giant flower to lie on, a small house with a mouse and soothing nature sounds. Here you can recharge – and soon you will be ready for new adventures.

Every year, NiCOLAI for children offers a number of atmospheric events for the whole family: Classic for children (week 7) – NiCOLAI Drawing Festival (March) – Repair & Remake Festival (May) – Constitution Day for children (June 5) – Kolding Culture Night (August) – Jazz for Kids (week 42) – Kolding Light Festival (December).
